A MAJOR CHANGE. IT HAPPENS IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF RINGS STOLEN FROM A SACRAMENTO COUNTY JEWELRY STORE. I TALKED TO GRAB HIM, BUT I SAID IT’S NOT WORTH IT BECAUSE I HAVE TWO KIDS, SIX AND SEVEN YEARS OLD. I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THEIR FUTURE AND I JUST LET THEM GO. HAMID SARABI OWNS ALTA ARDEN WATCHES AND JEWELRY REPAIR ON FULTON AVENUE. THE STORE IS IN THE ARDEN-ARCADE COMMUNITY, SO HE SHARED HE AND HIS FAMILY HAVE WORKED IN THE JEWELRY BUSINESS FOR YEARS. EACH RINGS WAS LIKE AT LEAST $1,000 WORTH, SO THEY TOOK IT FROM US. WE COMPLETELY DOWN. SO FOR A SMALL BUSINESS, THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IS A LOT, EVEN $1,000. THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS ITS DETECTIVES ARE INVESTIGATING. I RAN BEHIND HIM. I THOUGHT, THIS IS JUST A REGULAR CUSTOMER. LOOK AT HIM NOW. HE’S PUT SOMETHING LIKE THAT ON HIS WRIST. I JUST LET HIM GO. SO THIS IS THE FIRST DAY AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND FEARFUL FOR HIS FAMILY’S SAFETY, SARABI SAYS HE STARTED KEEPING THE FRONT DOOR LOCKED AND HE’S GLAD HE DID. DAYS LATER, ON DECEMBER 27TH, HIS SECURITY FOOTAGE SHOWS THREE PEOPLE, THIS TIME IN MASKS AT HIS DOOR BUT UNABLE TO GET IN. ALL MY INVEST, WHATEVER I HAD, I PUT IT IN THE STORE, BUT SADLY NOW I HAVE LIKE I HAVE TO GIVE IT UP BECAUSE WHAT I CAN DO NOW, THE POLICE IS NOT CATCHING THEM AND THE SITUATION IS GETTING BAD HERE. SARABI STARTED A GOFUNDME TO TRY AND COVER THE BILLS AND RENT. HE WAS ALREADY BEHIND ON. HE SAYS THOUGH THIS MIGHT BE IT FOR THE STORE, HE JUST DOESN’T FEEL IT’S SAFE TO KEEP GOING AT THIS POINT. I’M NOT SCARED OF ANYBODY, BUT BECAUSE OF I HAVE A FAMILY, TWO KIDS, ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME WHO’S GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THESE KIDS? I’M WORRIED ABOUT THEM. I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR US, BUT WE HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT. IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY, LEE ANNE DENYER KCRA THREE NEWS.
