(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in Sacramento just before midnight on Friday.

Officers arrived at the 7700 block of 51st Avenue and found a man with at least one gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were done until the Sacramento Fire Department arrived, but the victim was pronounced dead on the scene by fire officials.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have taken over the investigation, according to SPD. The scene was processed, evidence was collected and witnesses were interviewed.

There is no suspect information at this time and the incident is still under investigation, Sacramento police said.

The identity of the victim will be released after the next-of-kin have been notified.
