TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Wildcat fans are buzzing with excitement as they prepare for the upcoming Trust & Will Holiday Bowl. Many fans gathered at Tucson International Airport early New Year’s Day, ready to catch flights to San Diego for the big game against the SMU Mustangs.

News 4 Tucson’s Jafet Serrato spoke with fans at the airport who expressed their confidence in the Wildcats’ performance. The Wildcats, who are on a five-game win streak, are set to face the Mustangs for only the third time ever.

They will play at Snapdragon Stadium.

William Murphy, a dedicated UA fan, shared his optimistic score prediction for the game. “Alright give me your prediction what’s the score going to be? 38-14,” Murphy said. Despite some weather-related delays, Murphy’s enthusiasm remains high. “I had to support my squad they were on fire this year,” Murphy said.

Steve Armenta, another Wildcat fan, echoed the sentiment. “They’re hot right now,” Armenta said. Although he won’t be attending the game in San Diego, California, Armenta plans to cheer for the Wildcats from a local sports bar in Texas.

Steve Coffey, who also can’t make it to the game, is hopeful about the team’s success. “He’s the straw that stirs the drink and gets the team going,” Coffey said, referring to Wildcat quarterback Noah Fifita.

For those unable to attend the game in person, the Holiday Bowl will be broadcast starting at 6 p.m. Jan. 2 local time on FOX.
