BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — On Aug. 17, 2025, the Bakersfield Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested 19-year-old Sebastian Dominguez for murder. Officers responded to a report of gunshots fired just before 1 a.m. on the 900 block of Panorama Drive. Upon arrival, they found a 17-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators discovered that a large gathering was taking place in the east parking lot of Panorama Park when a physical altercation erupted. The victim attempted to deescalate the situation but was confronted by Dominguez, who then shot him. Dominguez was apprehended later that day without incident and booked into the Kern County jail.

Bakersfield police have now released a video of Dominguez’s arrest on their Instagram account.

According to court documents, Dominguez claimed to have accidentally discharged a gun while high on inhalants.

Dominguez is charged with first-degree murder. During his first court appearance, Dominguez pleaded not guilty.

As of September 5, he is expected to return to court on November 12.
