SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A juvenile is in custody after Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies said the suspect fired multiple rounds at their father during an argument in South Sacramento, then led deputies on a vehicle pursuit.
Central Division patrol deputies responded Saturday morning to a report of shots fired at a home on Diana Way, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.
Deputies said the incident began during a verbal argument between the juvenile and the father, when the juvenile retrieved a firearm and fired multiple rounds. The father was not injured and escaped in his vehicle, deputies said.
Afterward, the juvenile stole the grandmother’s pickup truck and pursued the father, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop and led deputies on a pursuit, the sheriff’s office said.
The pursuit ended when the juvenile crashed into an iron rod fence, deputies said. The juvenile was detained without further incident, and deputies recovered a loaded firearm from inside the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies said the firearm’s serial number had been scratched off.
The juvenile was booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office did not release the juvenile’s age or any potential charges.
