The San Francisco Symphony frequently hosts a popular film series, in which talented musicians play the soundtracks to films live while the movie plays in the theater. The screenings are wildly popular, and you can expect a wide range of films on the calendar. This October, the symphony will screen the hit animated film Coco that was inspired by the holiday Day of the Dead, and Alfred Hitchcock’s famous thriller Vertigo. The screenings will occur on October 29 and 30, respectively, starting at 7:30 pm.
The October films are perfect for fall, with Coco’s inspiration coming from the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which is celebrated on November 1 through 2 every year. The heartfelt film follows a young boy as he goes on an exciting adventure through the land of the dead to learn more about his family. The Coco performance is family-friendly, and you can expect themed food and drinks, and children’s tickets are half off.
