A Simi Valley card shop was burglarized early Sunday morning costing the business thousands in damages and depleting its inventory.

Officers responded to the card shop around 3:38 a.m at a shopping center on Erringer Road, according to Simi Valley police.

The owner of Simi Sportscards says that burglars stole sports and Pokémon cards from the glass cases, resulting in approximately $50,000 in losses for the business. He adds that the store was depleted of its inventory, meaning the business will have empty shelves for the coming days and possibly weeks.

“Luckily, we have very close relationships with other stores in the area, and we will be getting some help with some temporary inventory to stock the shelves,” said co-owner Jake Miller. “We will also be sending out a list of all high-value stolen cards to other stores in the area to look out for.”

Detectives are now investigating whether the robbery is connected to other card store thefts in LA County. Simi Valley police officials cited a burglary attempt a few months ago at another Simi Valley card shop just a mile away.

Several card shops have been targeted by thieves across LA County. Last month, LAPD detectives were investigating card thefts at businesses in Woodland Hills, Glendale and Burbank.
