A two-alarm fire damaged an apartment building and displaced several residents on Monday in Sausalito, the Southern Marin Fire Protection District reported.

The fire happened at about 8:45 a.m. at 14 Josephine St., part of a three-level hillside structure near the south end of Bridgeway. The apartment is two levels below the street.

“Crews encountered difficult access and a steep hillside while making their way to the main fire area,” the district said.

No injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation and appears accidental, the district said.

Firefighters from Marin County, Central Marin, Tiburon, San Rafael and Kentfield departments assisted.
