BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said that on New Year’s Eve, multiple deputies, including those from eastern Kern County, arrested two men for allegedly burglarizing a train in the Keene area.
On Dec. 31, 2025, deputies responded to a remote area in Keene regarding a train burglary. Upon arrival, they found suspects Ricardo Rodriguez, 47, and Juan Diaz, 41, inside a storage container on a train.
Diaz and Rodriguez allegedly barricaded themselves inside the container and refused to come out, said KCSO. Shortly later, the suspects came out and were arrested without further incident.

Both Diaz and Rodriguez are charged with burglary, conspiracy, delaying or obstructing a peace officer, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and giving false identification to a peace officer. Diaz was also charged with two outstanding warrants and a misdemeanor warrant.
Deputies from the Bakersfield area, Mojave Substation, Tehachapi Substation, and Rosamond Substation investigated the incident.
