BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The man shot and killed in a Foods Co. parking lot on White Lane on Friday has been identified as Joseph Macias, 22, of Bakersfield.
The Kern County coroner reported that Macias was found shot by another person at 9:26 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2026, at the Foods Co. located at 1801 White Lane.
Bakersfield police responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Macias in the parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the suspects were confronted by patrons as they left the parking lot, prompting one suspect to fire multiple rounds, striking and killing Macias.

The suspects were apprehended on Jan. 3 in the 500 block of H Street and booked into Kern County Juvenile Hall on charges including homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and gang participation.
