BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A trough digging in over California on Monday brought rain to the northern part of the state, but now that system is turning into a cutoff low, which will continue sliding south along the coastline overnight.

That brings increasing clouds and a chance of showers overnight to most of Kern County, while also dragging in colder air.

That means overnight lows will be in the low 40s for the valley, mid-30s in the Kern River Valley, and low 30s in Tehachapi and Frazier Park areas.

Cooler weather with mainly light precipitation at times is in store through Thursday, with highs in the low 60s in the Valley, upper 50s in the Kern River Valley, and upper 40s in the Tehachapi and Frazier Park areas on Tuesday.

A drying trend will occur later this week, with high pressure moving in overhead, bringing sunny and stable weather.

With that pattern, and all our saturated soil, we’ll see the the potential for widespread Tule fog returning to the Central Valley beginning Thursday night.
