(FOX40.COM) — A man accused of stealing copper wire and damaging light rail infrastructure was recently arrested.

On Dec. 24, 2025, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were assigned to the Sacramento Regional Transit contacted Addison Jones, 32, after he was found cutting copper wire along the light rail tracks between the Sunrise and Hazel stations.

Deputies said they found Jones with wire cutters and stolen copper wire taken from poles supporting the overhead catenary system, with multiple poles having been damaged. According to SCSO, they also recovered about two pounds of stolen copper wire and additional burglary tools from his hotel room.
Jones was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for alleged copper theft, damaging railroad property, vandalism, possession of burglary tools, and trespassing on RT property. His bail was set at $35,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 12.
