SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The Princeton men’s water polo team took on UC San Diego for the second time this season, this time at the Tritons’ home pool.

The Tigers hung with the Tritons throughout the contest, but a late goal would be the difference maker as Princeton fell to UC San Diego 10-9.

#13 Princeton 9, #10 UCSD

The Tritons scored two goals to open the matchup before Adam Peocz found the back of the cage to get Princeton on the board. UC San Diego responded with a goal to hold a 3-1 lead after the first.

Otto Stothart went to work in the center and was able to score his first of the night in the second quarter.

The home team tacked on two more, but Taylor Bell converted the penalty to stop the attack. Stothart added another score as Princeton trailed by two at the half.

Both squads traded goals in the third before heading to the fourth quarter.

Bell and Stothart each scored in the fourth to each record a hat trick on the night in the comeback effort. UC San Diego had an answer once again as the Tritons held a 10-8 advantage.

Gavin Appeldorn scored with the extra attacker, but time ran out on the clock as the Tigers dropped the matchup to the Tritons in the last game of the fall break trip.
