Authorities are investigating an alleged assault at Disneyland after one group of guests reportedly cut in line and violence ensued.
According to a statement shared with PEOPLE from Anaheim, Calif., police sergeant Matt Sutter, the incident took place in line for the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction around 2:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
“According to reports, one group tried to pass another group that was standing in line,” Sutter said. “A verbal argument led to a physical altercation.”
As a result, one male was injured, received first aid and “remained in the park for the rest of the day with his family,” authorities said. Meanwhile, the other party involved “fled the scene and has not been located.” However, authorities are following up on leads to make contact.
“Anyone with information, either eyewitness accounts or video, is encouraged to contact the Anaheim Police Department,” Sutter said.

A Reddit user, ImaginaryBag1452, who claimed to be an eyewitness, said the whole incident lasted about 30 seconds and “there were several people intervening to stop the guy.”
They added: “He managed to get some hits in even with people blocking. Then he stepped back a bit so others did too. That’s when he jumped in for one last sucker punch, which drew blood, and then he ran off with his family following.”
In the comments, a woman claiming to be in line at the time of the incident said her husband ended up with four stitches and a “wicked shiner” after the altercation. Also shared to the forum was a photo of the man showing the reported stitches and a large bruise above his right eyebrow.
“Wifey here of the hubby who got the beat down and mama to the teen who caught everything on video,” Reddit user Wittwitbarist wrote in the r/Disneyland forum on Jan. 1.

The woman claimed her husband refused to fight back because “he didn’t want to risk false assault accusations, risk us being blacklisted and family getting removed and ending our Disney vacation early.”
In a Jan. 6 post, the woman said her husband “was addressing a family of 4-6 that was cutting in line, who admitted was cutting in line and didn’t care.”
The wife adds in a separate post that after the incident, “a [cast member] literally spawned in and they took our kids to the side (ages 17-26) and gave them lightning lane passes for the rest of the day. Hubby got vouchers [for] replacement clothes (pants got destroyed and shirt soaked in blood) from the shops.”
Despite the ordeal, the woman says the family stayed in the park for the rest of the day.

Another user claiming to be the couple’s daughter also took to the platform saying she is “a little traumatized” from the experience. She shared a photo reportedly showing her and her dad in line for another ride, this time the man had a bandage above his right eye.
