Northern California forecast: Light round of rain and snow possible in some areas Wednesday

LIVE AT THE WHITE HOUSE. APPRECIATE IT. IT IS 518. WE’LL TAKE OUR ATTENTION BACK TO KCRA 3 WEATHER AND TRAFFIC. TAKING A LIVE LOOK AT THE STOCKTON WATERFRONT FROM OUR WILL HERYFORD SKYCAM KCRA. NICE TO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK FROM EVERYTHING YESTERDAY. SPECTACULAR SUNSET LAST NIGHT. ABSOLUTELY. AND WE GOT UP TO 62 IN SACRAMENTO YESTERDAY. WE HAVEN’T FELT THAT IN QUITE A WHILE, SO A LOT OF SUNSHINE FUELING THAT WARMTH. AND I EXPECT THAT AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY TODAY, TEMPERATURES WILL BE TRENDING DOWN A BIT. WE’VE GOT A LITTLE FEATURE THAT’S MOVING THROUGH THAT’S THROWING UP SOME OF THE CLOUDS THAT WE’RE SEEING HERE UP AND OVER THE STOCKTON WATERFRONT TEMPERATURES DOWN TO THE MID 40S RIGHT NOW IN STOCKTON UPPER 40S FOR YOU, MODESTO TO 49 IN SACRAMENTO AND RIGHT AT THE FREEZING MARK IN LAKE TAHOE. NOW MOST OF THE VALLEY NOTICING A LITTLE BIT OF A DROP OFF ALREADY 2 TO 5 DEGREES COOLER, GETTING OUT THE DOOR AND GETTING YOUR WEDNESDAY STARTED. RUNNING ABOUT TWO DEGREES COOLER IN PLACERVILLE AND AROUND AREAS OF AMADOR COUNTY, CALAVERAS AND TUOLUMNE COUNTIES. AND WE’RE UP A FEW DEGREES IN THE SIERRA WHERE MORE CLOUDS AND EVEN A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS ARE WORKING DOWN PART OF THE WEST SLOPE. SO HERE ARE SOME OF THOSE SHOWERS WITHIN VIEW AROUND BUCKS LAKE AND IN THROUGH LA PORTE. AND THAT IS COMING IN AS A RAIN SNOW MIX PRIMARILY. AND THEN WE’RE SEEING SOME LIGHT RAIN HIT YOU IN GRASS VALLEY AND ALONG NEVADA CITY, THERE ALONG THE 20 CORRIDOR, ALONG INTERSTATE 80, DOWN TOWARDS ABOUT. MEADOW VISTA IS WHERE YOU START TO SEE A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT RAIN. SO AGAIN, A VERY WEAK SYSTEM BRUSHING THROUGH THE AREA TONIGHT. AND THAT IS ALSO GOING TO PROMPT MORE SHOWER CHANCES. THIS IS 830 THIS MORNING. AND AGAIN MOST OF THIS ACTIVITY TIED TO AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF 80 WITH SOME OF THOSE LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW BANDS. I DON’T EXPECT TO PICK UP MUCH OF ANYTHING MEASURABLE, BUT OVERNIGHT TONIGHT, A CHANCE WE COULD SEE SOME MEASURABLE SNOWFALL. HERE’S 8:00 FRAMED UP ON FUTURECAST. YOU’VE GOT SOME LIGHT SNOW COMING DOWN INTO PLUMAS COUNTY, INCLUDING QUINCY, AND THEN IN AREAS HERE ACROSS THE SIERRA TRUCKEE INTO SOUTH LAKE TAHOE. THOSE PASSES LIKE DONNER SUMMIT, ECHO SUMMIT AND SONORA PASS WILL LIKELY SEE A COUPLE OF INCHES OF SNOW OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND INTO THE EARLY PARTS OF TOMORROW MORNING, WHICH COULD MEAN THAT TRAVEL ALONG THE SIERRA PASSES COULD BE A LITTLE BIT SLICK. TOMORROW MORNING, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. ONCE WE GET BEYOND DAYBREAK, THOSE ROAD CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE AND WE’RE LOOKING AT SUNSHINE PAIRED WITH A NORTH BREEZE. SETTING UP SHOP FOR THE VALLEY SO THAT WEATHER SYSTEM WILL KIND OF SKIRT ACROSS THE SIERRA TOMORROW, THEN MOVE OFF TO THE EAST. AS WE GET INTO FRIDAY. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN. THIS SETS THE STAGE FOR NOT ONLY A PRETTY QUIET FORECAST, BUT POTENTIAL THAT WE COULD SEE MORE VALLEY FOG DEVELOP AND STICK AROUND EVEN INTO THE EARLY PARTS OF NEXT WEEK. FOOTHILLS AND SIERRA FORECAST. BIGGEST THING TO WATCH FOR THOSE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS OVERNIGHT TONIGHT INTO EARLY THURSDAY. AND THEN VALLEY FORECAST HERE IN THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS.
