RCOC employee, Bryan Derryberry, charged
Bryan Derryberry (Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office)
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – An employee of the Road Commission for Oakland County is accused of hitting a pedestrian with a plow truck.
On Jan. 1 at around 8 a.m., a 68-year-old Macomb County man was found unconscious lying on the side of Middlebelt Road near Eldon Street in Farmington Hills.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. He was identified as Edward Detroit.
Investigators determined that Detroit was struck by a Road Commission for Oakland County plow truck. Authorities said evidence recovered from the truck confirmed that Bryan Derryberry, 51, was operating the truck when the crash happened.
Derryberry, who has been an employee with RCOC for three years, was charged with failure to stop at a scene of a crash, a five-year felony. He was released from custody on a $100,000 personal bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16.
