THOUSANDS OF FANS PACKING INTO HORNET STADIUM FOR SACRAMENTO STATE’S HOMECOMING GAME TONIGHT. WE TALKED TO A LOT OF FANS. THEY SAY THEY ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE DIRECTION THAT THIS PROGRAM IS HEADED IN. IT’S KIND OF FIGURE OUT FANS FOR THE KICKOFF. IT’S HOMECOMING NIGHT FOR THE HORNETS AND A CELEBRATION OF ALUMNI, STUDENTS AND STAFF. EVERYBODY. ALUMNI FELT LIKE THEY STILL WENT HERE. IT JUST FELT LIKE FAMILY. AND I LOVE THE COMMUNITY THAT SAC STATE HAS. SAC STATE FANS SHOWING THEIR GREEN AND GOLD PRIDE. AND HOPE FOR A SEASON THAT THEY SAY IS ALREADY OFF TO A STRONG START. YOU KNOW, THEY’VE BEEN GOING UP THIS YEAR. THIS IS THE MOST CROWDED. I’VE SEEN IT IN A LONG TIME, SO IT’S PRETTY EXCITING TO SEE. I THINK KIND OF JUST THE CULTURE THAT THE COACH HAS BROUGHT HERE FROM THE PLAYERS HAS TRANSLATED TO THE STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY. A LOT OF PEOPLE FEEL REALLY GOOD ABOUT SAC STATE. THIS AS SAC STATE IS LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME FOR THEIR FOOTBALL GAMES. THE UNIVERSITY IS IN TALKS WITH CAL EXPO, EXPLORING PLANS TO CONVERT THEIR HORSE RACING TRACK AND GRANDSTAND INTO A STADIUM FOR 25,000. IT’S GOOD FOR THE SCHOOL IF YOU CAN GET, YOU KNOW, MORE AND MORE SEATS IN THE STANDS, A BETTER PRODUCT, THEN WHY NOT? THE MORE SPACE THE BETTER. THE GOAL IS TO HAVE THE STADIUM READY BY FALL OF NEXT YEAR, MEANING THIS COULD BE THE LAST HOMECOMING GAME ON CAMPUS. BUT THERE’S NO QUESTION THERE’S A LOT OF EXCITEMENT SURROUNDING SAC STATE RIGHT NOW. WITH THE STANDS FILLED FOR HOME GAMES. SOME, EVEN WITH POST-GAME PERFORMANCES.
