Officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Office have identified the man who was killed in a fatal traffic collision on Interstate 5 northbound just south of Magic Mountain Parkway in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Edwin Oscanoa Vicuna, 50, of Bakersfield, has been identified as the man who was killed when a sedan and two box trucks were involved in the traffic collision.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were dispatched at 3:03 a.m. to a report of a traffic collision involving a trapped person, according to officials with the Fire Department on Tuesday morning.
There was one person trapped in the truck, according to Keith Navarre, spokesman with the Fire Department during a phone interview on Tuesday.
“A driver in a Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound I-5 when they lost control of their vehicle, subsequently crashing into the side of a box truck. That box truck overturned, landing on its side, blocking the 3 and 4 lanes,” according to a news release sent out on Tuesday from Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez with the CHP. “A second box truck struck the first box truck, and veered left, coming to rest blocking lanes. The driver of the second box truck sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The crash led to multiple lanes being blocked for multiple hours and multiple occupants being transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.”
