All eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway were shut down between Crenshaw Boulevard and Arlington Avenue following a possible shooting, authorities said Wednesday.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) were examining the area at West Adams Boulevard and South Hoover Street, the agency told NBC Los Angeles.

The investigation was linked to a shooting that had been reported at around 12:26 p.m. in the same area, the CHP said.

The LA Fire Department confirmed a 44-year-old man, who had been traveling in a grey Lexus SUV, got out of the vehicle and was taken to a hospital in serious condition for gunshot wounds.

A Sigalert was issued for the eastbound 10 Freeway between Arlington and Western avenues.

Authorities did not say how long the lane closures will last.

The eastbound 10 Freeway was seeing severe congestion Wednesday afternoon all the way from the West LA area at the Cloverfield Boulevard exit.

Officials estimated drivers could experience a delay of up to 2 hours.
