Donald Carlson – Inside The Rink

The San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks agreed to a trade this afternoon. The Sharks acquired goalie Laurent Brossoit and defenseman Nolan Allan along with a 2028 7th-round pick. The Sharks are sending defenseman Jake Furlong, the rights to Ryan Ellis, and a 2028 fourth-round pick.

Laurent Brossoit

Brossoit returned this season from an injury playing in six games for the Rockford IceHogs going 3-3-0 with a 3.38 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. He last played before this season in 2023-24 with the Winnipeg Jets. In 23 games he went 15-5-2 with a 2.00 goals-against average, .927 save percentage, and three shutouts. 

Nolan Allan

Allan in 29 games for Rockford this season has six points on two goals and four assists; he was a minus two. Since going pro, he spent a majority of his time in the AHL with Rockford appearing in 109 games recording recording 29 points on nine goals and 20 assists; he’s an even in plus/minus. He’s appeared in 43 games for the Blackhawks recording a goal and seven assists; he’s a -13. 

Jake Furlong

Furlong in 12 games with the Barracuda this season has two assists; he’s a minus-six. Last season was his first season with the Barracuda and in 66 games he had eight points on a goal and seven assists; he was a -14. 

Ryan Ellis 

Ellis hasn’t played since 2021-22 when he appeared in four games for the Flyers recording five points on a goal and four assists; he was a plus-two. He suffered a pelvic/psoas muscle injury which is career-threatening. In 566 career games in the NHL, he has 275 points on 76 goals and 199 assists; he was a +116.
