In their last two outings, San Diego State beat Boise State in a triple overtime thriller and came from behind to beat Nevada on the road. They sure could use a nice, leisurely win to ease some stress from the last week.
Luckily, they got a very young and not very good Fresno State team making a trip to Viejas Arena. SDSU scored the first eight points of the game, built the lead to 28 points, and never looked back in a 71-52 win, moving the Aztecs to a perfect 5-0 in Mountain West Conference play.
Magoon Gwath turned in his best performance of the year. The seven-foot sophomore poured in 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 23 minutes. Reese Dixon-Waters (13 points) and Miles Byrd (10 points) joined Gwath in double-digits but the impressive part of the box score was how long it got. The Aztecs put 11 players on the floor, all of them logged at least 11 minutes and all of them scored and had a rebound.
SDSU is back on the road to make the always challenging trip to Wyoming on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Pacific time.
