Before coming to Arizona, Brent Brennan and Josh Oglesby signed a 3-star offensive lineman at San Jose State that they hoped would be a big part of their future.

Arizona has landed a commitment from offensive tackle Nate Hale, who comes to Tucson after three seasons in San Jose. He’ll have two years of eligibility.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Hale appeared in 23 games for the Spartans, redshirting under Oglesby and Brennan in 2023 and starting 10 games in 2025 at right tackle. In 670 snaps he did not allow a sack as San Jose ranked second in the Mountain West Conference in passing.

Hale is the second offensive lineman Arizona has added from the NCAA transfer portal, joining ex-Washington center Zachary Henning. The Wildcats only return one full-time starter up front, right guard Alexander Doost, though Matthew Lado started the final three games at right tackle after Tristan Bounds’ injury and Rhino Tapa’toutai also has starting experience.

Arizona is up to 13 portal additions, seven on offense.

Since getting hired in Jan. 2014, Brennan has seen eight of his former players from San Jose come over to Arizona. In addition to Hale, next season the Wildcats will also still have ex-Spartans Jay’Vion Cole and Tre Smith.
