With the Winter Olympics in Italy less than a month away, Oakland’s Alysa Liu wowed the crowd at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in St. Louis over the weekend.

She competed at the Beijing Olympics as the youngest member of the team, retired and then came back.

Years later, Liu likes her chances at making the podium at the Milan-Cortina Games in February.

“Well, I’m not the youngest this time, so I’m feeling older,” she said. “Not really, I’m really, really good, and there are people in the crowd, so I’m feeling the support!”

Liu, along with Isabeu Levito and Amber Glenn, is among the 16 U.S. skaters on the roster.

Meanwhile, another Bay Area native made the ice dancing team.

Anthony Pono-Markenko and his partner struggled early in the season but peaked at the nationals this weekend.
