A spokesperson for the fire department said a half-inch gas line was hit while digging.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Nearby homes are being evacuated due to a leaking gas line in Sacramento.

According to Sacramento Fire Department, the incident was reported along the 2100 block of Markham Way in the Curtis Park neighborhood around 12 p.m.

A spokesperson for the fire department said a half-inch gas line was hit while digging and is leaking.

No additional information has been released at this time.
