Construction near the Thomas Vincent Bridge near the Port of Los Angeles was in a new phase Monday following the opening of a northbound on-ramp to the Harbor (110) Freeway and a southbound off-ramp from state Route 47 at Front Street/Harbor Boulevard.

Along with the new ramps, Knoll Drive has been realigned to access Knoll Hill, according to port officials.

Starting Jan. 23 and extending through Aug. 31, crews will close both the Route 47 on- and off-ramps at Harbor Boulevard.

The SR 47 Interchange Project is replacing the existing southbound Route 47 off-ramp from the Vincent Thomas Bridge with a new off-ramp on the north side as well as realigning the existing on-ramp to the northbound 110 Freeway connector, modifying the northbound off-ramp onto Harbor Boulevard and the northbound on-ramp onto the bridge toward Terminal Island.

Local streets near the interchange will also be improved, port officials say.

The project is scheduled for completion in December.
