The California Highway Patrol says one person is dead after a head-on crash on Highway 1 on Monday morning just outside of Castroville. CHP said a gray Acura driven by a man was traveling southbound on Highway 1 north of Highway 183.At the same time, a red Volkswagen driven by a woman was traveling northbound on Highway 1.For reasons still under investigation, the vehicles crashed head-on at around 6:16 a.m., per CHP.The gray Acura came to a stop blocking the southbound lanes, and the Volkswagen came to rest on the right shoulder, CHP said.Both drivers were taken to the hospital with major injuries. The California Highway Patrol says one person is dead after a head-on crash on Highway 1 on Monday morning just outside of Castroville.
