A report of an explosion and a burned person in a downtown Los Angeles commercial building drew a fire department response Monday morning, but evidence of a blast was not immediately located, although a burned person turned up blocks away.
Crews responded to the one-story building in the 800 block of East 12th Street, several blocks south of Skid Row, and saw light smoke coming from the structure, said spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“After investigating the new construction property, the cause of the smoke is undetermined,” she said.
A call was subsequently received about a 36-year-old man with burn injuries, “with a location multiple blocks from the fire,” Middleton said.
“It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related,” she said.
