More people are moving out of California than any other state for the sixth straight year.  A new U-Haul Growth Index found that about half of U-Haul moves in California last year were people leaving, with slightly fewer moves overall compared to 2024.  Customers coming to California fell one percent year-over-year while departures fell two percent.  Governor Newsom still claims that the state is not seeing a mass exodus.  Still, while U-Haul data only represents their customers, it shows California continues to lose more people than it gains.  Senator Ted Cruz criticized Governor Newsom on X, noting California topped the list seven times in the last decade.
