The Sacramento Police Department says nearly a dozen arrests were made and multiple vehicles were impounded following sideshows throughout the city.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Nearly a dozen people were arrested after the Sacramento Police Department said multiple illegal sideshows took place across the city over the weekend.Â
Police said officers responded to sideshow activity on Center Parkway and Ehrhardt, Northgate Boulevard and West El Camino Avenue, El Centro Road and San Juan Road, Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Meadowview and 21st Avenue.Â
Police said several vehicles allegedly involved were stopped while law enforcement pursed other suspected vehicles that refused to stop. Â
From the evening of Jan. 10 to the early morning of Jan. 11, 11 people were arrested, seven vehicles were towed, multiple citations were issued, and 67 traffic stops were made throughout Sacramento.Â
“Sideshow activity is illegal and poses serious dangers to participants, bystanders, and surrounding communities,” police said in a press release. “It can also result in significant property damage and disrupt neighborhoods. These dangerous stunts put innocent drivers, pedestrians and children at risk.”Â
Penalties for suspected sideshow activity includes fines, vehicle impoundment and arrest, police said.Â
