BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A hearing to determine whether Maya Hernandez will face a retrial has been postponed to Feb. 3, 2026.

Hernandez is accused of leaving her two sons in a hot car in June while she underwent a cosmetic procedure at a Bakersfield medical spa.

Her one-year-old son, Amillio, died. Mateo survived due to the development of his sweat glands, according to doctors.

In December, a mistrial was declared on charges of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. However, a jury found Hernandez guilty on two counts of child abuse.
