Police are investigating a stabbing in the 1700 block of J Street where an adult man was injured and taken to a hospital Wednesday evening.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento police are investigating a reported stabbing that occurred Tuesday evening in the downtown area that sent one man to the hospital.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to the 1700 block of J Street following reports of a person who had been stabbed. When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from at least one stab wound.

The victim transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Police said his injuries are non-life threatening. 

Police remained in the area to investigate. A person of interest has been detained.
