An attempted murder suspect was apprehended in Sacramento County Saturday, the Vallejo Police Department said.
Police said 34-year-old DeShawn Michael Cochise Pollard of Stockton, an attempted murder suspect, was apprehended in Sacramento County after a pursuit and was subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail.
Officers responded to a call for service regarding a shooting on the 100 block of Forest Ridge Drive at around 11 a.m. on Thursday, in which a woman reported that she was shot and was on the way to the hospital, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the woman was suffering from at least one life-threatening gunshot wound, and she was later listed in critical condition, authorities report.
Police said they identified Pollard as the suspect, and based on the evidence gathered, the Problem-Oriented Policing Team obtained an arrest warrant for him. Investigators learned Pollard was possibly in the Sacramento area and alerted the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, officials report.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office observed Pollard traveling on the 4500 block of Ledonne Drive in Sacramento County, officials said. According to authorities, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Pollard failed to yield and a brief pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ender after Pollard’s vehicle collided with an occupied vehicle, police said. Authorities add Pollard attempted to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended and his custody was transferred to the Vallejo Police Department.
The occupant of the other vehicle that was hit was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
