FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — “Benaddiction,” a beloved breakfast spot in Fresno, is set to close its doors for good on Monday, Jan. 19.

The restaurant, which began as a food truck before expanding to two brick-and-mortar locations, announced its closure on Facebook last week.

James Caples, CEO of “Benaddiction,” explained that the closure is because of having to shut down the company’s original location.

“It left an $800,000 hole in my budget,” Caples said. “That’s a hard thing to overcome.”

Caples said a year into opening his second location, the landlord of the original location did not allow a lease renewal, forcing its closure.

Despite efforts to adjust hours and increase personal involvement, Caples said they would not be able to overcome the “hole” in their budget.

Since the announcement, the restaurant has seen a surge in customers eager to visit one last time.

“We’ve had the busiest day of each day we’ve ever had since the announcement,” Caples said.

Anya Delamotte, a newer customer, shared her disappointment.

“I just discovered it last week and I was so excited about this place because it was going to be my new favorite place,” Delamotte said. “I am really sad that it’s closing.”

On the restaurant’s final day, Caples will sell mugs from the restaurant’s famous wall of mugs and invites everyone to say goodbye.

After the closure, Caples plans to step away from the restaurant industry for good.

The restaurant is located at 10063 N. Maple Ave Fresno Ca 93730.
