Sacramento’s New City Manager

The city of Sacramento recently welcomed a new city manager, Marasheshia Smith, who was selected last September following a nationwide search. She will assume a host of responsibilities, from overseeing thousands of employees to managing Sacramento’s budget and implementing policies. Smith’s appointment also comes following controversy around Sacramento’s previous city manager, Howard Chan. CapRadio reporters Riley Palmer and Tony Rodriguez recently sat down with Smith, and join Insight with more on her priorities and vision for the city.

MLK Community Choir Performance

Gospel music, patriotic music and more are returning to the foothills Monday in honor of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For decades the MLK Community Choir has honored King’s legacy of nonviolence, activism and the spirit of bringing community together, but went on hiatus following their 40th anniversary in 2022. This year the choir is bringing their beloved performance back, with a free noon concert at the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Choral director Stan Thomas-Rose talks about the choir’s history, and gives a preview of what music lovers can look forward to next week.
