Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart will race this weekend at round 2 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in San Diego, according to the team.

Stewart was involved in a scary incident on the opening lap of the 450SX main event in Anaheim when he was unable to jump the triple and as he rolled over the third jump, Justin Barcia, with nowhere to go, landed on Malcolm and violently crashed to the ground.

Fortunately, both riders escaped major injury as Barcia was able to walk out of the hospital under his own power the next morning and announced on his Instagram that he “broke a little wing” in his back and is dealing with extreme soreness. He will miss San Diego and there is currently no timetable on a return.

Stewart, on the other hand, sustained a dislocated left shoulder and a fractured scapula, but will not require surgery, per the team announcement today.

“I got the green light to go racing in San Diego,” Stewart confirmed. “Unfortunately due to what happened at A1, I got my results back and there are some fractures that are in the scapular area of my shoulder blade. My dislocated shoulder went back in well though, so no surgery is needed, and everything from here on out is going to be pain-related. I’m a little sore, but at the end of the day, I feel good enough to go out there and give it a shot for San Diego and go race.”

Round 2 of the championship heads to San Diego on Saturday and you can watch live via the Peacock beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT.
