The new dinner series kicks off in Los Angeles this month

Roads & Kingdoms, the longtime publishing partner of the late Anthony Bourdain (who served as a creative partner and original investor), will kick off its Anti-ICE Supper Club at the end of the month in Los Angeles.

As the U.S. undergoes an aggressive wave of immigration crackdowns, this new dinner series supports local frontline organizations defending immigrant and refugee communities. Beginning with L.A., Anti-ICE Supper Club has plans to stop in Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York City throughout 2026.

“As an independent media company, Roads & Kingdoms has the freedom to express our values where others won’t,” says Nathan Thornburgh, co-founder of Roads & Kingdoms. “I don’t know how you can write about food or travel or hospitality on any level and not stand for immigrants against the balaclava-wearing federal kidnapping squads that are attempting to terrorize huge swaths of the population.”

The L.A. edition will run Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in benefit of Al Otro Lado, a nonprofit organization that provides direct legal support to immigrants and refugees in Southern California and across the U.S.-Mexico border.

“We are driven to do this work everyday because in good conscience, we cannot watch our government commit crimes against some of the most vulnerable among us in our name and with our tax dollars,” says Erika Pinhiero, executive director of Al Otro Lado.

The first two Anti-ICE Supper Clubs will take place at a private residence in Larchmont on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Helmed by chef Daniel Patterson (previously of Star Coi in San Francisco and Alta Adams) and 25-year music industry veteran Sarah Lewitinn (professionally known as Ultragrrrl), the evenings will welcome just 14 guests for a 10-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Then, on Feb. 3Guelaguetza chef and owner Bricia Lopez will host a tlayuda experience featuring music, dancing and plenty of fresh tlayudas.

“At its core, Guelaguetza has always been a place to build community — it’s the essence of our culture,” said Lopez. “We are built for community, and it’s in moments like these that community matters most. As an immigrant girl from Oaxaca, I’ve known fear, but I’ve also experienced the strength that comes from standing together in our power. We’re honored to join Roads & Kingdoms in bringing a night of tlayudas to life, grounded in the belief Anthony Bourdain always shared: when we respect and value a culture’s food, we begin to respect the people behind it.”
