The elders statesmen in the 450SX Class controlled the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener at Anaheim 1 on Saturday night. Eli Tomac edged out fellow veteran Ken Roczen for the win, becoming the second oldest 450SX winner in history in the process. Tomac, 33, also joined Chad Reed in the history books with his win (more on that below).
Meanwhile, the 250SX Class was won by veteran Max Anstie who DID become the oldest rider in history to win in that class. He was joined on the podium by younger guns Chance Hymas and Ryder DiFrancesco.

Eli Tomac’s Win…
Was the 54th of his 450SX career, which is second all-time only to Jeremy McGrath (72)
Tomac joins Chad Reed as the only two riders in history to win a 450SX main event on 4 different brands (Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and KTM). Reed won on Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki
Tomac is now the 2nd oldest rider in history to win a 450SX main. Tomac is 33 years and 1 month while Justin Brayton was 33 years and 11 months when he won Daytona in 2018
Anaheim 1 was Tomac’s 185th career start, moving him into 10th all-time
Ken Roczen’s Second…
Was his 77th career 450SX podium, which puts him 7th all-time
It was his 164th SMX League podium (6th all-time)
This is the 16th season Roczen has had at least one start, moving him into a tie for 5th all-time with Kyle Lewis and Nick Wey
Jorge Prado’s Third…
Was his first career podium and top 5 finish in his short time racing in the U.S.
Anaheim 1 was only his 7th career 450SX start
250SX Class Notes
Max Anstie’s Win
Was the 4th of his career
Anstie has won back-to-back 250SX Divisional openers, as he won the 2025 East Division opener in Tampa
Anstie is now the oldest 250SX class winner in history by one day! John Dowd was 32 years, 8 months and 15 days when he won the Dallas Supercross in 1996 and Anstie was 32 years, 8 months and 16 days on Saturday when he won at Anaheim
It was his 40th career 250SX start
His win was Yamaha’s 141st in the 250SX Class
Chance Hymas’ Second
Was just his 2nd career 250SX podium. He garnered his first last year with a win in Foxborough
Anaheim 1 was just his 24th career 250SX start
