(FOX40.COM) — Crime in the city of Sacramento decreased across the board in 2025.

According to data released by the Sacramento Police Department on Thursday, the crime rate in all seven tracked categories contributed to a 12% drop from 2024 to 2025.

Those categories are homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault — known broadly as violent crime — and burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft — broadly called property crime.

Violent crime fell by 10.4% from 2024 to 2025, dropping from 3,925 violent crimes to 3,518.

Robbery saw the most significant decrease among violent crimes, dropping by 12.4%.

Aggravated assault fell by 11%.

Homicide declined by 6.7%.

Property crime declined even more, falling from 13,757 total incidents in 2024 to 11,994 in 2025 — a 12.8% change.

Motor vehicle theft dropped 17.1%.

Larceny-theft fell by 11.2%.

These crimes are tracked as part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reporting program.

“SPD remains committed to addressing crime in our city through proactive policing, thorough investigations, and teamwork,” the department said in a social media post. “Thank you to the members of the Sacramento Police Department who address these issues every single day.”
