George Ringer

OBITUARY

George Waters Ringer put the final exclamation point on his book of life on December 16, 2025. 88 years young, George lived a life full of adventure.

While born in Milwaukee, George spent his childhood in Freeport, NY. Adventure called when an ROTC Navy scholarship to the University of Washington brought him to the Pacific Northwest, site unseen. Fast forward some years that included a college degree, naval duty, the meeting of his future wife Mary, and a EE Masters from the University of Wisconsin and adventure called again–this time sending the young couple to the California Bay Area.

George spent most of his career at Lockheed Martin as a program engineer, but his true passions lay in backpacking the Sierra mountains, running the trails of the California foothills, and spending time with Mary and his three children.

After Mary passed in 2010, George’s second phase of life kicked off with cherished partner Linda Piersol. With Linda, George expanded his repertoire of sports (picking up a pickleball racquet) and travel destinations. George lived a life without regret and charged through life’s tribulations with the catchphrase, “Onward!”

George will be missed by those who survive him: partner Linda; children Matt (Heidi), Sara (Jay), and Kristen (Steve); grandchildren Nyah, Makena, Braeden, Joslyn, Devyn, and Camden; and sister RuthAnn. Donations may be made to Blood Cancer United at:
