The Boston Bruins have traded Jeffrey Viel to the Anaheim Ducks for a 2026 fourth-round pick. The selection will be the earlier of Anaheim’s two fourth-round picks, which the Ducks acquired from the Detroit Red Wings and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Viel, 28, is in the second season of a two-year, $1.55 million contract. The left wing has not scored a point in 10 games this season. The 6-foot-1, 214-pounder has fought now-Anaheim teammate Radko Gudas and the Florida Panthers’ Jonah Gadjovich.
He has most recently been serving as the Bruins’ No. 2 spare forward, behind Mikey Eyssimont. Viel last played on Dec. 20, 2025, against the Vancouver Canucks, logging 7 minutes, 22 seconds of ice time in the Bruins’ 5-4 shootout loss.
The Bruins liked Viel for his work ethic, willingness to fight and for being a good teammate. That they got a fourth-rounder from the Ducks indicates he would have likely been claimed had he been placed on waivers for assignment to Providence.
