LOS ANGELES (KABC) — We’re just days away from LA’s Official Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade, and this year’s grand marshal is ready to roll.

“When I ride past, give me a wave, the salute! Give me a salute,” joked comedian and actor Cedric The Entertainer.

Cedric sat down with ABC7’s Michelle Fisher, teasing everything from the car he’ll be riding in (a Rolls Royce) to the clothes he’ll wear on the big day.

“When you think grand marshal, think grand!” he said. “The hat will be something that should be talked about.”

Revelers can also expect to see Cedric’s castmates from his sitcom “The Neighborhood,” who were invited to tag along for what the actor calls a “family reunion.”

“You get there and you meet up with folks and see people you haven’t seen in a long time, and it’s that kind of celebratory energy I want out there on Monday,” he said.

Although known for his humor, it’s the comedian’s heart that resonated with parade chairman Danny Bakewell, Sr.

“He’s a great guy, very active in the community and he’s a friend,” Bakewell said.

ABC7 was there as Cedric’s Kyles Family Foundation and Brotherhood Crusade helped fire victims with free car leases last year.

“The service you provide to others is actually the thing that will lead you to greater places in life,” Cedric The Entertainer said.

Those places and opportunities seem to be endless, as he prepares for Joe Turner’s “Come and Gone” on Broadway this spring, and a new Audible sitcom, “Big Age,” in February.

But first, it’s parade day – and Cedric The Entertainer wants to see you Monday.

“Be there, be a part of it,” he said. “It’s going to be great.”

ABC7 will broadcast LA’s Official MLK Jr. Day Parade LIVE at 11 a.m. Monday, and you can watch it anywhere you stream.
