BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — On Sunday, officers from the Wasco Police Department responded to a report of a man acting erratically inside the Walmart at 401 Central Ave.

The individual was armed with a bow and arrow and a crossbow.

Officers collaborated with Walmart staff to evacuate employees and customers safely. The man was detained without incident, and no injuries were reported.

The store resumed normal operations shortly after the scene was secured.

The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of brandishing a deadly weapon and trespassing. He was booked into Lerdo Jail.

The Wasco Police Department expressed gratitude to Walmart employees and officers for their swift actions, ensuring public safety. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
