Iconic rock band Green Day has just announced a San Francisco show this February, joining the numerous major artists performing in the Bay Area for Super Bowl weekend. The band will be joined by Counting Crows, a rock band formed in Berkeley in the early 1990s. The concert will be on Friday, February 6, at Pier 29 in San Francisco, and is joining a long list of concerts happening in the city before the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The rock bands will play the invite-only party hosted by FanDuel and Spotify. The two companies have collaborated for the past two years to throw a pre-Super Bowl party, featuring major artists like Megan Thee Stallion. The rock show will also include a DJ set, although the details have yet to be announced.
Green Day was started in Rodeo, California, which is not far from San Francisco. The band is known for being a key part of the early punk and rock scene in the Bay Area, and they soon became one of the best-selling music artists in the world. Counting Crows was also formed in the Bay Area, and is known for their hit songs like “Mr. Jones” and “Rain King”.
While the Green Day and Counting Crows show may be invite-only, there are still many exciting concerts happening throughout the weekend. Post Malone is set to play a free show at Fort Mason Center, hosted by Bud Light. You can also head to the Palace of Fine Arts to see Sting or the Killers, although ticket prices are steep.
