San Francisco Art Week is quickly approaching, and you can expect a calendar filled with events, from art fairs to museum parties. This year, the Minnesota Street Project is debuting a free art fair featuring over 20 galleries. The art fair, called ATRIUM, will feature established and new contemporary artists based in the Bay Area.
“With ATRIUM, we are building a bridge between galleries, artists, and the public,” says ATRIUM Director and MSP Executive Director Aimee Le Duc. “Like the galleries that are already part of Minnesota Street Project’s year-round program, we want up-and-coming galleries to have their programs seen and supported by serious collectors, by those just starting out, and by the curators and advisors who shape the field. And we want people who are new to collecting to feel welcome—to discover that building a collection is within reach.”
ATRIUM will debut on January 22, with an opening reception from 6 to 9 pm. The fair will run through the end of the weekend, January 25, so you have several opportunities to explore it during Art Week. While the traditional art fair will take over the first floor, the upstairs of the venue will showcase SKYLIGHT ABOVE, a group exhibition created by artists.
The fair will take place in the Minnesota Street Project’s massive warehouse venue, designed to be an affordable space for local artists to exhibit their work. The Minnesota Street Project also features several resident art galleries, including Eleanor Harwood Gallery, Jenkins Johnson Gallery, and others that will be on display. Atrium is a wonderful opportunity to explore the San Francisco art scene in one venue. Even if you are not in the market for new art, you can still explore the numerous artists.
The Minnesota Street Project is in Dogpatch, home to numerous new restaurants and cafes, perfect for a bite after the art fair. We recommend heading to SŌHN, a Korean-American cafe that recently opened in the neighborhood and offers delicious bites in a cozy space.
