Oregon State gymnastics earned its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Sacramento State 196.375–193.675 at Gill Coliseum. 

The victory marked the Beavers’ seventh straight win over the Hornets.

Head Coach Tanya Chaplin spoke after the meet and expressed relief about getting the first win of the year. She mentioned that the previous matches were very close and said she is proud of how the team continues to compete.

Chaplin also emphasized how special this group of athletes is. She noted that the gymnasts keep improving and showing strong character each week.

Sophia Esposito led Oregon State with an impressive all-around performance, scoring a 39.500. She recorded two scores of 9.900 or higher, including a meet-best 9.925 on floor exercise.

Esposito opened with a 9.850 on vault and followed with a career-high 9.900 on bars. She added a 9.825 on beam before finishing the night with another strong floor routine.

Kyanna Crabb helped the Beavers start fast with a 9.875 in the first spot of the vault lineup. The score set a new Oregon State career high for the Vancouver, Washington native.

Crabb also performed an exhibition routine on floor and earned a 9.925. She has competed in every meet this season for OSU.

Ellie Weaver delivered one of the top performances of the night on uneven bars. She anchored the lineup with a career-best 9.950.

Weaver also competed on beam, earning a 9.775 for the Beavers. Her season averages improved to 9.792 on beam and 9.833 on bars.

Olivia Buckner contributed key scores with a pair of 9.875s on beam and floor. Her floor score marked a new personal best.

Lauren Letzsch added a 9.875 on beam, while Savannah Miller matched last week’s performance with a 9.875 on floor.

Oregon State’s floor lineup shined, posting a season-high 49.350 rotation score. The rotation was highlighted by Esposito’s 9.925 and strong routines across the board.

The Beavers improved in every rotation throughout the meet. They opened with a 48.850 on vault, followed by 49.050 on bars and 49.125 on beam.

Oregon State will remain home for its next competition. The Beavers host Utah State on Sunday, Jan. 25 at Gill Coliseum.
