LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Lady Rebels fell 75-66 to San Diego State in overtime on Saturday afternoon at The Pavilion. The Scarlet & Gray (12-6, 7-1) still hold the overall series 42-31 and still hold a 10-3 record under head coach Lindy La Rocque over the Aztecs (14-3, 8-0).

Four different Lady Rebels scored in double-digits and were led by Aaliyah Alexander’s 18 points. Alexander shot 7-for-13 from the field, was 1-for-2 from long range and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Shelbee Brown and Jasmyn Lott each had 13 points on the day. Shelbee Brown led the squad in rebounds with eight and was tied for the team-lead in steals with two. Mariah Elohim scored 11 points, while shooting 4-for-9 from the field and was 3-for-6 from the three.

The Aztecs were led by Naomi Panganiban and Nat Martinez. Panganiban had 20 points, while Martinez had 19 points, respectively. Alyssa Jackson led San Diego State in rebounds with six.

STAT OF THE GAME: The Lady Rebels and Aztecs exchanged the lead 15 times throughout the game. The squads were tied five times throughout. Each had their best scoring run of double-digits.

END OF THE GAME CRAZE: In the fourth quarter, the Lady Rebels were down 53-46, but with less than three minutes left to play, UNLV went on its best scoring run of the game with 10 straight points including two huge back-to-back three’s by Elohim to take a two-point lead, 62-60. San Diego State then went back ahead by a point, but Lott sank a free throw to tie it 63-all and force extra time. In the overtime period, the Aztecs out-scored the Lady Rebels 12-3 to make it 75-66 to earn the win.
OTHER NOTES:
The Lady Rebels and Aztecs were even on rebounds each with 32.
UNLV won the paint battle 34-24.
The Scarlet & Gray forced 16 Aztec rebounds and scored 20 points off them.
UNLV dished 13 assists and were led by Alexander’s five.
The Lady Rebels had two blocked shots, one by Shelbee Brown and one by Meadow Roland.
San Diego State had 12 steals on the day.
