The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired defenceman Kyle Masters and a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft, the team announced on Friday.
The pick going to San Jose originally belonged to the Chicago Blackhawks, and was acquired by Carolina in a deal during the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
Masters, 22, has appeared in 10 games for the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL this season, and has recorded three assists.
Originally selected by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Masters has played 35 games at the American Hockey League level with a goal and six points. He was traded by the Wild to the Sharks earlier in the season.
The native of Edmonton is a right-handed shot and stands 6-foot, weighing 190 pounds.
