A man was fatally wounded Sunday morning while inside his pickup truck in Long Beach, authorities said.
Officers on patrol in the 1900 block of Gaviota Avenue, a few blocks west of Cherry Avenue, heard multiple gunshots at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, according to Officer Kimberly Krpan of the Long Beach Police Department.
“They scanned the area and saw a white pick-up truck that had collided with a light pole and an unoccupied parked car,” Krpan said. “Officers approached the pick-up truck and discovered that the male adult driver had sustained a gunshot wound.”
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, she said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside the vehicle when he was shot,” she said. “Suspect information and motive remain under investigation.”
