Del Mar Planning Commission members reelected Philip Posner as chair and Jas Grewal as vice chair for 2026 during its Jan. 13 meeting.
Both decisions were unanimous. Posner is in his third term on the commission, running through July 31, 2028. Grewal is in her first term, which runs through July 31, 2027.
Members of the commission are typically limited to two terms. In June 2024, with a shortage of applicants and concerns that the commission would not be able to reach a quorum, Del Mar City Council members voted to appoint Posner for a third term while continuing recruitment efforts.
Planning Commission members Patrick Leonard and Mark Rittenbaum were eventually appointed in October 2024, followed by Meghan Spieker in January 2025.
The Planning Commission, which consists of five Del Mar residents serving four-year terms, advises the council on various zoning and development decisions. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall.
