Officers with the Bakersfield Police Department arrested 14 people, took 11 animals into custody and removed 36 encampments during a sweep Wednesday along the Kern Riverbed, the agency reported Friday.
The operation spanned the riverbed between the 24th Street overcrossing and the Kern River Upland Park Weir, BPD said.
The action involved employees from the city of Bakersfield’s code enforcement division, Animal Control, the Bakersfield Fire Department Arson Division and Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, among other local government agencies, BPD reported.
